Overview:

Ms. Nash-Hoff will explain how the supply chain crisis could have been prevented if more American manufacturers had utilized the Total Cost of Ownership Estimator™ that Harry Moser made available for free in 2010 when he founded the Reshoring Initiative. She will show how the TCO Estimator is a useful tool to evaluate whether to select domestic suppliers vs. offshore suppliers because it includes calculations for the "hidden costs of doing business offshore,” such as Intellectual Property risk, quality issues, ability to make design changes, costs of transportation, effect on innovation, product liability risk, annual wage inflation, political instability risk, and currency appreciation.

Why should you Attend:

There will inevitably be more disruptions in the future, so American manufacturers must prepare themselves now by strategically evaluating and mitigating their supply chain risks.

In addition, current manufacturing trends are influencing supplier choice, such as wages rising in China, increased “Made in USA” demand by government agencies and American consumers, and use of Industry 4.0 by suppliers (Automation, Robotics, and Industrial Internet of Things (IIOT) American manufacturers need to understand the hidden costs of manufacturing overseas and the advantages of domestic manufacturing.

Manufacturers need to learn how to use the Total Cost of Ownership estimator developed by Harry Moser of the Reshoring Initiative to enable them to do an accurate total cost of ownership analysis that will reveal the hidden costs of sourcing offshore, what factors should be considered besides pricing, and what are the risks of sourcing offshore compared to domestically

Areas Covered in the Session:

Ms. Nash-Hoff will discuss the effect of where are your markets - global, Europe, Latin America, or in the USA in relation to choosing the location of your suppliers.

She will discuss variables that affect vendor selection, such as the percentage of labor contact in your products, whether your annual production volume forecast is low, medium, or high, and whether you have a low vs. high product mix. She will discuss why it is important to consider the technological depth of supplier, as well as the responsiveness, and reserve capacity of suppliers

She will discuss what are others things manufacturers should consider in selecting suppliers outside of the lowest price, such as what quality controls does the supplier use and what certifications your customers require that you must require of your suppliers.

She will show how the Total Cost of Ownership Estimator™ developed by Harry Moser of the Reshoring Initiative can be used to select suppliers.
